This movie is a thriller so one would think that the songs would not be all that great to listen to. But this album is quite good.
The album starts off with “Sooraj Dooba Hain” and the lyrics hit home with this up-tempo song. Arijit Singh lends his voice to this one and makes the song quite powerful. The song’s female voice is Aditi Singh Sharma and I wish that she made more of a mark in this song. Her voice is non-impactful. Amaal Mallik’s composition and Kumaar’s lyrics work well with each other. The song has made its mark and will be a memorable song of this year. The second version of “Sooraj Dooba Hain” is not as impactful because the song starts off with Aditi and right away, one sees the quality of the song drop a notch.
Ankit Tiwari starts off with “Tu Hai Ki Nahi” with his own music and his own voice. The song has really good lyrics and makes for a really good driving song. The song is a slow-tempo number which will be a favourite amongst those who enjoy good music. But what makes this song a winner is its lyrics.
“Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan” will be a popular number because of the way the song has been shot. Jacqueline Fernandez flaunts her moves in a song that has a hip hop feel. The lyrics are nothing special and in fact, like most Bollywood Punjabi numbers, make little to no sense. Kanika Kapoor lends her voice to this song and really, it’s more of the same voice quality that we hear in songs like “Lovely”. Meet Bros make this composition and it’s a nice song to move to – but that’s about it.
Next up we have the Ankit Tiwari strikes again song, with lyrics that seem superficially deep. This song is one in which I could see some people really liking it and some people not liking it at all. Ankit Tiwari sings this song in his typical style that has made him famous. It is soulful crooning that should make his mass fan following even larger.
The album ends off with “Yaara Re” in which we hear the awesome voice of KK, in Ankit Tiwari’s musical composition. This is by far the best song in the film – and that truly is because of his voice. It is a magical number because he knows exactly how to use his voice. And that’s why people will fall in love with this song.
While Roy is nothing special, it is an album that is definitely worth a listen.
