Dhoop Ki Deewar

Here's the thing with Pakistani web series - so far, they have always worked for me. Zee5 has had a few that I have enjoyed and Dhoop Ki Deewar can certainly be added to the list of shows I enjoyed, based on the first few episodes.

Dhoop Ki Deewar follows Vishal, who is from Amritsar, India, and Sarah, who is from Lahore, Pakistan. The way in which the makers of the show have ensured that both of the worlds are similar is excellently done. Sarah's family enjoys the very dramatic Indian Serials and Vishal enjoys Atif Aslam. But of course, what tears them apart are cricket matches and...the unrest between the two countries, who seem to be forever feuding.

The emotional turmoil shown between two countries that can wreak havoc on individual families is readily apparent, and you are left wondering, how so much is common, so much is loved, and yet so much is constantly at odds between people in each country.

A tale of love, and yet a tale of wonder because one is just left wondering - what if? What if things were better. What if there were no borders? What if there never was a partition? What if after the partition, there had never been any wars?

One feels helpless, yet hopeful at the same time. Which is what is making Dhoop Ki Deewar so wonderful to watch so far.
