The teaser, the trailer, the songs, the marketing of this film left me in no doubt that this film would be a visual treat, as all Sanjay Leela Bhansali films are. I was also confident that the star cast would do justice to their characters: Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone. These three are the three of the best actors we have in Hindi cinema today and together, they have the ability to create something absolutely phenomenal and memorable. But there is so much more to a good film than good cinematography and great actors. So does Bajirao Mastani have all of the key ingredients that goes into making a fantastic film?

When Bajirao, played by Ranveer Singh, is appointed the Peshwa, his help is sought by another kingdom. That kingdom brings him to meet Mastani, played by Deepika Padukone, who is falls in love with. The love between the two is so pure and so real, and yet you also feel for the wife of Bajiro, Kashbai, played by Priyanka Chopra. What happens between these characters forms the storyline.

With a massive budget and breath-taking sequences, this is a blockbuster film. You have to watch this film. I’ll tell you why. This film has it all. A good script, good dialogues, good writing, a tight script, good sub-plots, and excellent actors. The action is epic. The production design is astounding. The costumes are mesmerizing. And the music fits right in. Every single ingredient – you can taste it. You can feel the soul of the film throughout the completely justified 2 hours and 40 minutes.

What a fantastic, fantastic film.

I cannot stop raving about how tight the editing is. 2 hours and 40 minutes is a long time, but boy, do they nail this film right in the head. Not one second is wasted. What an absolutely fantastic film.

Let’s start from Priyanka Chopra first. Her character is not in the title but her performance is so overwhelming, so moving, that you are drawn to tears and smiles at the same time. She is a fine, talented actor. How she executes every scene with such integrity is bone-chilling. She steals the show for me.

But let’s not downplay how amazing Ranveer Singh is. This is his film. He does a fine job of doing complete justice to his character. He is a diamond.

Deepika Padukone. What can one say about her? It is not only her chemistry with Ranveer, but her chemistry with Priyanka that captures my attention. She is a true gem. She proves time and time again that she is here to stay.

The supporting cast is just right. But this film is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s gift to all of us and his actors. And his actors pay him his rewards by making this film unforgettable.

Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone give me much hope of the future of female actors in Hindi cinema. The two make my heart very, very happy.

  1. a word or done anything asganit TMK. A party on the first day of release? Is this what Im hearing, on the first day where TMK took 14 crore? I suppose SRK is psychic so he was celebrating the floppage of TMK he could see in the future? Has it also not crossed the great minds at TOI that SRK could have been celebrating Christmas? And before the religion card gets played, most of these actors are affiliated to a religion by name, not practice. The one review Ive seen where he was asked about TMK has him in an extremely cordial mood. What more can you expect from him, theres no doubt the dude is hurting, but would he go to the lengths like this? I highly doubt it. This is the sort of article only Akki-fanboys will believe, what it shows is that despite there insistence that TMK is best film on the planet at the moment, they are in fact aware there film is not doing well, hence looking to blame someone/something. These fans have literally contradicted themselves.
