International superstar Akshay Kumar has continued to encourage solidarity and goodness during Covid-19 by urging fans to donate to help provide much needed sanitary pads to underprivileged women and girls across Mumbai.

Having starred in the lead role in the 2018 blockbuster Padman, which is aimed at smashing the taboos surrounding menstruation and periods, Akshay Kumar has remained proactive on the subject as he hopes to empower millions across the globe on the importance of practising a safe and healthy menstruation.

The organisation Akshay Kumar is urging donations for, Samarpan, aims to make healthcare and education accessible to underprivileged children and to provide humanitarian assistance. This initiative to provide sanitary pads has been launched to help those in need during the lockdown.

In a powerful tweet to his 36M followers, Akshay Kumar, shared this post with a link for people to donate:

“A great cause needs your support. Covid doesn’t stop periods, help provide sanitary pads to underprivileged women across Mumbai. Every donation counts”

With many finding the current situation difficult, Akshay Kumar has been one of the shining lights during the pandemic in which he has been selflessly helping those most effected. This has included using social media to keep people smiling, sharing his appreciation for key service providers and hosting a virtual concert for fans to enjoy music from some of India’s biggest names.  Akshay Kumar has also donated an incredible Rs 2.5 crore (£2.5M) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM CARES FUN, provided Maharashtra police forces with wristbands that can detect Covid-19 symptoms, potentially saving many lives.
